Airbnb has two core values: Belonging and Acceptance. Knowing of their appetite to transform their values into stories, the second we learned about the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus doing a tour in the states with the worst discriminatory laws in the country, we immediately found a story that communicated belonging and acceptance at the most beautiful, highest level.

Belonging and Acceptance

From that insight, I wrote and directed Airbnb’s first feature film Gay Chorus Deep South. The film premiered at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival, won the audience award there and went on to play at over 200 festivals worldwide.

It was ultimately picked up by 26-time Oscar-winning producer Sheila Nevins and her new MTV Documentary Films. The film became their Oscar contender and has been recognized by Rotten Tomatoes as one of the 20 greatest LGBTQ films of all time.

The film has garnered more press, awards and fans than any other piece of content in Airbnb’s history.
